A long-standing project at Apple will not be making it to the finish line.

Bloomberg has reported that Apple has ended work on its Apple Car project, which is a project it has been working on since 2014.

The announcement itself was made by Apple Chief Operating Office Jeff Williams and Kevin Lynch who has been working on the project since 2021.

It was stated that the project was in a “make-or-break point” within Apple, along with CEO Tim Cook said to be facing pressure from shareholders regarding the decision to move forward with it.

Apple Car has also been referred to as Apple’s “Project Titan,” with 2,000 people said to be working on it. It has been said that some of the employees on that project will be moving to Apple’s AI team with John Giannandrea running it.

However, that offer will not be available to every employee that worked on the Apple Car project. The company has extended the opportunity for non-offered employees to apply for other jobs and positions within the company, but Bloomberg reports there will be some layoffs at Apple.
