NASCAR fans will be getting an excellent opportunity starting in April to stream a select amount of NASCAR Cup Series races in 4K.

According to TVAnswerman.com, FOX Sports will be broadcasting the following races in 4K:

  • Sunday, April 7: Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway at 3 p.m. ET on FS1
  • Sunday, April 14: AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway at 3:30 p.m. ET on FS1
  • Sunday, April 21: GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway at 3 p.m. on FOX
  • Sunday, April 28: Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway at 2 p.m. on FS1
  • Sunday, May 12: Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway at 3 p.m. on FS1
  • Sunday May 19: NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway at 8 p.m. ET on FS1

Here is how you can stream these races in 4K on your Apple TV 4K.

Our first method to stream the races in 4K will be through the YouTube TV and fuboTV live TV streaming services. Both of them offer the FOX 4K channels which will be showing the 4K through the 4K feed.

YouTube TV users will need the 4K Plus add-on with the service which costs an additional $9.99 a month.

The most convenient way to get access to the 4K stream will be through the tvOS FOX Sports app. All the user will have to do is sign in with their TV provider to the app and as long as your TV plan has FOX as a channel on it, you will be able to stream the game from the app and view it in 4K on their Apple TV 4K.

The source does say that the 4K streams are upscaled from 1080p HDR.

“Fox’s 4K live sporting events are upscaled from 1080p HDR (High Dynamic Range). Upscaling is the process when one video format is converted to another. Fox takes the 1080p HDR signal and converts it to a 4K format. Upscaling 4K is not considered as good as native 4K, but the inclusion of HDR can offer heightened colors and vividness.”
