In Mark Gurman’s latest edition of his “Powered On” newsletter, supplies of the current iPad Air across Apple’s retail stores have started to run low. This is a strong indicator that new models of Apple’s mid-range tablet are just around the corner.
Meanwhile, the current iPad Pro is still available with no signs of shipping delays. So what this means is that Apple may announce both new models of the iPad Air and iPad Pro at the same time, but since Apple has been facing production delays for the upcoming iPad Pro, particularly with the more advanced OLED displays, the company will ship the iPad Pros at a later date while supplies of the current iPad Pro last.
Earlier this week, we’ve been seeing case manufacturers pushing out cases for the upcoming larger iPad Air model, and now, that larger model was expected to feature a mini-LED display, similar to the one found in the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
The iPad Air is expected to feature the M2 chip and a new larger 12.9-inch model, and the iPad Pro is expected to feature the M3 chip and OLED displays for the first time. Mark Gurman expects both of those models to be announced on the week of May 9.
