Now that the iPad Pro (M4) was announced yesterday, you can order the newest flagship tablet at Apple today. If you look at the tech specs page, you’ll see that 16GB of RAM (unified memory) is still exclusive to models with 1TB or 2TB storage.

Unlike with Macs, you can’t custom configure any iPad model with larger amounts of RAM. So if you opt for either the base 256GB or 512GB capacity on the M4 model, you’re stuck with 8GB of RAM. Models with at least 1TB of storage will be equipped with 16GB RAM as previously stated. This differentiation from the lower storage tiers has been the same since the iPad Pro (M1) that was introduced in April 2021.

Other features that are exclusive to both the 1TB and 2TB tiers are the full-fledged M4 chip with 10 CPU cores and the optional nano-texture glass on the Ultra Retina XDR.

The iPad Pro (M4) and iPad Air (M2) will be available to customers on May 15.
