Apple rolls out macOS Sonoma 14.5 with new features in Apple News+

Apple has started rolling out macOS Sonoma 14.5 to the public with new features in Apple News, bug fixes, and more. This update comes almost two months after the release of macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 which addressed a few bug fixes and security vulnerabilities. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every 14.x update whilst also fixing security issues.

Here’s what’s new according to the Release Notes:

macOS Sonoma 14.5 includes the following improvements and bug fixes:
– Quartiles is a new and original daily word game that is now available in Apple News+
– Scoreboard in News+ Puzzles gives you access to new player data for Crossword, Mini Crossword and Quartiles, including stats and streaks

Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices.

This update also addresses 22 security vulnerabilities with Finder, Kernel, Maps, Shortcuts, WebKit, and more.

macOS Sonoma is compatible with the following Mac models:

  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2018 and later)
  • iMac (2019 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac mini (2018 and later)
  • Mac Studio (2022 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)

In addition to macOS Sonoma 14.5, Apple has also released macOS Ventura 13.6.7 and macOS Monterey 12.7.5 for Macs running on older versions of macOS.
