As we’re getting closer to Apple’s anticipated introduction of the iPhone 16 lineup, we’re getting word from ETNews that Apple suppliers, Samsung Display and LG Display, are ramping up production of iPhone 16 OLED panels with initial production beginning in June.
The number of shipments for Apple’s upcoming iPhone is estimated to be around 90 million units. Sources estimate that approximately 120 million units will be produced for OLED panels by the end of this year, with Samsung Display to supply about 80 million and LG Display to provide about 43 million, both of which are on track to meet their production goals.
We expect this coming iPhone 16 lineup to look very similar to the iPhone 15 lineup for each model, but this time, both iPhone 16 Pro models will see larger displays with the smaller model going from 6.1-inch to 6.3-inch and the larger Max model going from 6.7-inch to 6.9-inch. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will remain at 6.1- and 6.7-inch, respectively.
Other features we can expect for the iPhone 16 lineup are A18 and A18 Pro chips, a “Capture” button, and Wi-Fi 7 for the Pro models.
Based on previous release timeframes, we expect Apple to announce the iPhone 16 models around mid-September.
