Today, Apple announced its brand new products to the iPhone lineup at its ‘Glowtime’ event today ”“ iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, taking technology to the next level. The highlighting feature of the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series is Apple Intelligence, which was announced during WWDC back in June 2024, as a part of iOS 18.
The iPhone 16 series is powered by the A18 and A18 Pro chip, with both the regular and Pro models featuring similar new features and changes. The limelight falls on the new Camera Control Button, which is also interactive, and available on all the four new models. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, powered by the new A18 Pro chip feature a larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR Display, but they now come with even slimmer bezels for a more futuristic look.
Apple had to make way for these new 2024 iPhone models by discontinuing the sale of older iPhones. Every year, Apple stops selling the Pro variant of the previous year’s iPhone once the newer Pro models are announced. Well, this year it is no different. Apple has stopped selling the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max and replaced it with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
If you really wish to purchase an iPhone 15 Pro model, you’d have to take the third-party route till their stocks last. Now that the iPhone 16 Pro is out, you might find the iPhone 15 Pro at a discounted rate at third-party stores. Last year’s Pro does have support for Apple Intelligence, so you won’t be missing out on the software part. However, if the discount is really negligible, it’s better to spend a little extra to get the latest iPhone with new hardware.
Additionally, the sale of the iPhone 13 has been discontinued by Apple, which used to cost $599 before today’s launch.
If Apple were to keep the iPhone 13, they would need to price it at $499, leading to competition with the iPhone SE (3rd generation) at $429. Moreover, the iPhone SE starts at 64GB of Storage, and the 128GB variant is available at $479, which is just $20 short of the $499 price tag we would have expected for the 128GB iPhone 13. We know which one would win. Apple discontinued the iPhone 13 mini last year probably due to the same reason as both these phones were significantly better than the iPhone SE. In other news, a new redesigned iPhone SE is expected coming soon to replace the current design.
Here’s how the current iPhone lineup and pricing looks like:
- iPhone SE (64GB):Â $429
- iPhone 14 (128GB):Â $599
- iPhone 14 Plus (128GB):Â $699
- iPhone 15 (128GB):Â $699
- iPhone 15 Plus (128GB): $799
- iPhone 16 (128GB): $799
- iPhone 16 Plus (128GB): $899
- iPhone 16 Pro (128GB):Â $999
- iPhone 16 Pro Max (256GB): $1199
Apple has an iPhone for everyone with a budget above $400 and users can decide based on their requirements.
