Apple announced its brand new products to the iPhone lineup at its ‘Glowtime’ event today ”“ iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, taking technology to the next level.

The highlighting feature of the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series is Apple Intelligence, which was announced during WWDC back in June 2024, as a part of iOS 18.

The iPhone 16 series is powered by the second generation 3nm chips from the Apple family – A18 and A18 Pro, with both the regular and Pro models featuring similar new features and changes. The limelight falls on the new Camera Control Button, which is also interactive, and available on all four new models. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, powered by the new A18 Pro chip feature a larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR Display, but they now come with even slimmer bezels for a more futuristic look.

All four iPhone models including iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will come with 8GB of RAM, the only performance difference between the regular and the Pro models is the lack of one GPU core on the A18 chip for the regular iPhone.

With that said, the new Geekbench 6 results of the new iPhone 16 series have started to roll in. The first one, with the model identifier iPhone 17,3 which seems to be a regular iPhone 16 has a single score of 3114 and a multi-core score of 6666. This approximately marks a 20% improvement in the single core score and a 4% improvement in the multi-core score when compared to the A16 Bionic chip from the iPhone 15. The multi-core score in this test seems to be lower than expected, and there’s a possibility that the test was conducted in a very warm environment, leading to thermal throttling. We will update you once more such tests are conducted and the numbers start to add up.
