Apple announced its brand new products to the iPhone lineup at its ‘Glowtime’ event on September 9th ”“ iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, taking technology to the next level.

The highlighting feature of the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series is Apple Intelligence, which was announced during WWDC back in June 2024, as a part of iOS 18.

The iPhone 16 series is powered by the A18 and A18 Pro chip, with both the regular and Pro models featuring similar new features and changes. The limelight falls on the new Camera Control Button, which is also interactive, and available on all four new models. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, powered by the new A18 Pro chip feature a larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR Display, but they now come with even slimmer bezels for a more futuristic look.

One common improvement across the entire iPhone 16 lineup is the durability of the display. According to Apple, “latest-generation Ceramic Shield with an advanced formulation that is 50 percent tougher than the first generation and 2x tougher than glass on any other smartphone.” We can currently only assume that Apple is still in partnership with Corning to offer the upgraded Ceramic Shield on the iPhone 16 series. We are also yet to see any real-world tests on the durability of this new variant of Ceramic Shield to offer a more nuanced comparison, but we can expect a significant difference since this is the first time that Ceramic Shield has been upgraded since its initial launch with the iPhone 12 series in 2020.

The pricing has been nearly the same in the U.S. for these years considering all of these improvements. The iPhone 16 & iPhone 16 Plus will be available in five new finishes ”“ Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, Black, and White. The iPhone 16 starts at $799 for 128GB, $899 for the 256GB variant, and $1,099 for the 512GB variant with special offers from Verizon, AT&T, Boost Mobile, and T-Mobile. Without the offers from Verizon, AT&T, Boost Mobile, and T-Mobile, the 128GB variant costs $829, the 256GB variant costs $929, and the 512GB variant costs $1,129. The iPhone 16 Plus starts at $899 for the 128GB base variant, $999 for the 256GB variant, and $1,199 for the 512GB variant with special offers from Verizon, AT&T, Boost Mobile, and T-Mobile.
