WhatsApp only just gave iPhone users the ability to juggle two accounts in one app, and now it’s apparently going further. WABetaInfo spotted evidence that the company is developing support for a third account, letting people switch between profiles without ever logging out.
The current two-account setup arrived officially back in June, following months of beta testing that started the previous November. Before that update, anyone needing a second WhatsApp number had to turn to WhatsApp Business as an alternative, even if they had no actual business purpose for it. This next expansion would push that same flexibility a step further.
Screenshots shared by WABetaInfo show what the account switcher looks like once a third profile gets added. One screen displays the option to add a second account sitting at the bottom of the interface, while another shows what it looks like once someone’s logged into a third profile. The visual layout stays consistent with what’s already there: each account shows its name, profile photo, and phone number, with a green checkmark marking whichever one is currently active. Once this feature ships, the “Add account” option will remain visible even after someone’s already added two profiles, and WABetaInfo notes WhatsApp could eventually support more than three accounts down the line.
Each account keeps everything separate too. Chat history, media, notifications, settings, backups, and more all stay tied to their specific profile rather than getting mixed together across accounts. That separation matters most for people juggling distinct work and personal numbers within the same app, since nothing bleeds over between the two.
WABetaInfo points out that two accounts probably cover most people’s needs already, but a third option gives more flexibility to anyone managing an unusual mix of numbers, whether that’s a side business, a secondary personal line, or something else entirely. For now, though, this remains firmly in development. It hasn’t reached beta testers yet, which suggests a public rollout is still a ways off rather than something arriving imminently.
