iOS 18.1 has been in beta since the end of July and was only available for iPhone 15 Pro models. Yesterday, Apple released the fourth beta of iOS 18.1 to all devices that support iOS 18.0, and a new change has been confirmed. Several users had assumed that Call Recording and Transcription in Notes will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and later, however that is not the case. It seems that only summaries of the transcriptions will be limited to newer models such as the iPhone 15 Pro series and iPhone 16 series.

While Call Recording is available for all devices running iOS 18.1, it seems that Transcription is not, as noted by Aaron Zollo. Transcription may be available for some of the newer iPhone models, and we will update you with the list of supported devices.

Here are the languages in which Call Transcription is supported with iOS 18.1:

  • English (U.S., Australia)
  • Spanish (U.S., Mexico)
  • Mandarin Chinese (China mainland)
  • Cantonese (Hong Kong)
  • Korean (South Korea)

iOS 18.1 is expected to be released by the end of this year, most likely by next month with features like Apple Intelligence and more, with most of them being available for newer iPhone models such as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series.
