A new firmware version for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Max with Lightning, and AirPods Pro 1 has been released by Apple. The build number of the new firmware is 6F21, while the previous build number was 6A326. This update is not available for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4. This could be due to the fact that Apple is planning to release a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2 with the build number 7B19, featuring all of the new hearing features coming with iOS 18.1.

Apple hasn’t revealed if there’s anything new with version 6F21, but it might be just “bug fixes and improvements”.

If you want to check if your AirPods model has updated to the latest firmware, follow these steps:

  1. Open the lid of your AirPods/or wear them
  2. Go to Settings>Bluetooth
  3. Tap on the ‘i’ icon

Here, you’ll be able to see the current firmware version of your AirPods. If it hasn’t updated, you’ll just have to wait as there’s no way to manually update. Just make sure your AirPods case is sufficiently charged along with your iPhone being in close proximity.
