How to stream “Doctor Who” for Doctor Who Day 2024

While there is college football available to stream in 4K today, it is also an important day today for some people out there who love a great science-fiction show. That show is “Doctor Who.”

“Doctor Who” originally premiered on November 23, 1963, and has been around now for over 60 years. Given its extensively long history, that means there is plenty of the series to watch.

However…finding out just how to stream all of the series might get…well, let’s just say that is where things get complicated.

To start us off, the “Classic Doctor Who” series which started in 1963 and went until 1989, all 26 seasons of it can be streamed ad-free on Britbox or free with ads on Tubi. That will include Doctors 1-7.

Pluto TV and Tubi do additionally have the “Classic Doctor Who” Channel available, but you are at the liberty of which episodes are shown, as they are not available on-demand through that channel specifically.

Unfortunately, there is no currently a legal way in the United States to stream the 1996 “Doctor Who” TV movie starring Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor. It is available to stream on BBC iPlayer, so if you have access to that, then you could stream it that way.

Next up, we have “Doctor Who” (2005-22) which is also called “New Who.”

The way to stream the 13 seasons of the series will be through MAX. This will include Doctors 9-13.

After that, we have the 60th anniversary specials that originally aired this time last year through the BBC and here in America on Disney+. There were three special episodes made to celebrate said anniversary, starring David Tennant as the 14th Doctor and Catherine Tate as companion Donna Noble. All three specials can be streamed exclusively on Disney+.

Just like with those specials, season 14, also referred to as “season one” (the show was changing show runners and media distributors) starring Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Doctor and Millie Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday can also be streamed exclusively on Disney+.

Other “Doctor Who” related specials you can stream are “An Adventure in Time and Space” on Britbox and the documentary “Doctor Who Am I” on Prime Video or for free with ads on Tubi and PLEX.

If you wanted to go even further down the “Doctor Who” rabbit hole, you could also stream some of its spin-offs such as “Torchwood” on MAX, “The Sarah Jane Adventures” on MAX, or purchasing the one and only season of “Class” on the Apple TV app for $22.99.

Do you plan on streaming “Doctor Who” today on Doctor Who Day? If so, which episodes or specials do you plan on streaming? Comment below or let us know on X at @appleosophy.
