If you haven’t already heard, James E. “Jimmy” Carter, Jr. passed away on Sunday, so in honor of him, Apple is paying tribute to the former U.S. President on its homepage. If you head to Apple’s website now, you’ll see a black-and-white photo of the late politician and the inscription “Jimmy Carter 1924-2024.”

Tim Cook also shared his tribute on X (formerly Twitter):

Here’s some brief, basic information about the former U.S. President: Jimmy Carter was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. He grew up there and later attended Georgia Southwestern College and Georgia Institute of Technology. He married Rosalynn Smith on July 7, 1946. He eventually became the 39th President of the United States of America, serving from January 20, 1977, to January 20, 1981 (one full term). After his presidency, he wrote thirty-two books, and on December 10, 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize “for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.” He passed away on December 29, 2024, just almost three months after he turned 100.

Here are some fun facts about Jimmy Carter:

  • He was the longest-lived President in U.S. history, surpassing George H.W. Bush (aged 94).
  • He became the first and only President to live 100 years of age.
  • He was also the first President to be born in a hospital.

I hope you learned a little bit of trivia about this U.S. politician, and may his legacy live on.
