A major change is coming to the internet starting tomorrow on Sunday, January 19.

This change is that the popular video watching and sharing app TikTok is scheduled to be banned in the United States as of Sunday. The plan for TikTok is to have it essentially have it go “black” or make it so users cannot view or share videos on it starting Sunday.

Here is the message that has been shared on TikTok as of tonight, Saturday night, January 18:

The image does state, “We’re working to restore our service in the U.S. as soon as possible, and we appreciate your support. Please stay tuned.”

On Friday, January 17, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the TikTok ban in the country unless TikTok’s parent company ByteDance sold TikTok by January 19. ByteDance is not seeking a buyer.

What makes this interesting is in the U.S. on Monday, January 20, President-Elect Donald Trump will be sworn into the Presidency role.

It has been reported that Trump has said he will “most likely” give TikTok a 90-day extension, according to NBC News.

“The 90-day extension is something that will be most likely done, because it’s appropriate,” Trump said. “You know, it’s appropriate. We have to look at it carefully. It’s a very big situation.”

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is expected to be at Trump’s inauguration on Monday.
