One of Apple’s upcoming models in the iPhone 17 lineup has been highly anticipated since it’s going to be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, and today, one of the well-known leakers, Majin Bu, posted an alleged image of what could be the design for the supposed ‘iPhone 17 Air.’
As you can see in this rather pixelated image, the design clearly looks similar to the Google Pixel 9 as it features a pill-shaped, raised camera layout along the top. The larger cutout on the top would house the single rear camera, which we’ve been expecting, and the small cutout would be for the LED flash and microphone. If this design were to be final, this camera layout would take several design cues from the camera layout on the iPhone X and XS from 2017/2018.
Since we just entered into the new year, and thus, we’re several months away from the iPhone 17 lineup’s announcement, it should go without saying that the leaked images should be taken with a grain of salt. We can also expect dummy models around the July timeframe, so we can get a better idea of what the final designs will be for the said models.

Speaking of cameras, that also won’t be the only iPhone model to have a single rear camera as we also expect the upcoming iPhone SE (4th generation) to have a single camera, possibly similar to the iPhone XR’s camera layout. Furthermore, since the iPhone Pro models have had the same rear design for several years, this could give Apple a chance to drastically revamp the design for those models by applying the elongated camera bump across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
Other features we can expect from the ‘iPhone 17 Air’ are a mono speaker, eSIM-only worldwide, a 6.6-inch OLED display, and the base A19 chip. Since that smartphone is going to be smaller in volume, we should expect an even smaller battery as a compromise.
Majin Bu has somewhat of a solid track record when it comes to predicting Apple products, most notably the “Desert Titanium” color name for the iPhone 16 Pro; however, he was sometimes wrong on some rumors, so only time will tell if this is the final design for the said iPhone.
