Apple rolls out iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 with new Visual Intelligence, features, changes to Notification Summary, and more

Apple - iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2

Apple has started rolling out iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 to the public with a few new features such as the ability to add an event to Calendar and identifying plants and animals with Visual Intelligence.

These updates come three weeks after the release of iOS 18.2.1 and iPadOS 18.2.1 which came with important security improvements. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every 18.x.x update whilst also fixing security issues.

According to the Release Notes:

“This update brings improvements to visual intelligence along with other enhancements, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone.

Visual intelligence with Camera Control (All iPhone 16 models)

  • Add an event to Calendar from a poster or flyer
  • Easily identify plants and animals

Notification summaries (All iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max)

  • Easily manage settings for notification summaries from the Lock Screen
  • Updated style for summarized notifications better distinguishes them from other notifications by using italicized text as well as the glyph
  • Notification summaries for News & Entertainment apps are temporarily unavailable, and users who opt-in will see them again when the feature becomes available

This update includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Calculator repeats the last mathematical operation when you tap the equals sign again
  • Fixes an issue where the keyboard might disappear when initiating a typed Siri request
  • Resolves an issue where audio playback continues until the song ends even after closing Apple Music

These updates are available on all devices that support iOS 18 including:

  • iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation)
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)
  • iPad Pro (2nd generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (6th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

However, Apple Intelligence will only be supported on the following devices:

  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPad Pro (M1 and later)
  • iPad Air (M1 and later)
  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)

After installing the update, you will be signed up for Apple Intelligence automatically if you haven’t already. However, you still have the option to disable it.
