Apple this week has increased the price of monthly AppleCare+ subscriptions by $0.50 per month in the United States. For example, the standard AppleCare+ subscription for the iPhone 16 will go from $9.99 per month to $10.49 per month.

The pricing update comes after the company is focusing more on AppleCare+ subscriptions and is getting rid of one-time purchase options at Apple retail stores and the Apple online store according to report from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg.

In Apple Stores and through the iPhone’s Settings app, customers can now opt for AppleCare+ as either a monthly or yearly subscription. This subscription model automatically renews, ensuring continuous coverage without interruption and providing Apple with a steady stream of revenue beyond the initial two-year period.

The company has not changed or increased the pricing for other products such as iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and other devices.

Apple continues to offer one-time purchase options for AppleCare+ through its online store at this time. This allows customers who prefer a non-renewing plan to buy a two-year AppleCare+ coverage that expires at the end of that period.
