Apple plans to launch an overhauled iPhone SE as early as next week, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The new model is expected to feature a design similar to the iPhone 14, incorporating Apple Intelligence, a USB-C port, a larger screen, and the A18 chip.

The company intends to debut its custom-designed modem in the iPhone SE 4, making it the first iPhone to feature this new technology. Although this initial modem won’t match Qualcomm’s advanced capabilities, it represents Apple’s first step towards reducing its reliance on Qualcomm for modem chips.

With the launch of the new iPhone SE, Apple will phase out Touch ID from its iPhone lineup, opting instead for Face ID. Additionally, the new model is expected to sport thinner bezels compared to its predecessor and have a bigger display.

The current iPhone SE is priced at $429, but it’s unclear whether this price will be maintained. Nonetheless, the starting price for the new iPhone SE is expected to remain under $500.

Apple is anticipated to announce the new iPhone SE via a press release rather than a full event. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg suggests that alongside the iPhone SE 4, Apple will unveil the new PowerBeats Pro 2 earbuds around the same time, with an unveiling expected as soon as February 11.
