Apple revives MagSafe Battery, but this time for the new iPhone Air

Yesterday, Apple debuted the iPhone Air – its thinnest and most-power efficient iPhone ever made. Apple claims that the iPhone Air has “all-day battery life,” and people have been skeptical about that claim despite looking that the specs and comparison page. As part of the accessories lineup, Apple offers an optional MagSafe battery pack designed exclusively for iPhone Air.

We previously saw the MagSafe Battery Pack when Apple introduced the iPhone 12 series and the MagSafe feature back on October 2020. Since that accessory had the Lightning port, Apple quietly discontinued it as iPhone models away from Lightning in favor of USB-C. Now, Apple is bringing back that accessory, but in a slimmer form factor that fits beautifully on the back of iPhone Air.

As with the previous MagSafe Battery Pack, using the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery is quite straightforward. You just snap the accessory on the back of iPhone Air for 65% additional charge to that iPhone. iPhone Air MagSafe Battery is also intelligent as it adaptively and dynamically choose the best time to recharge iPhone Air for optimized battery life. If you’re on the go, you should get up to 12W fast wireless charging with the battery, but for special cases where you need to charge faster, you can attach the battery and connect to a 20W or higher power adapter simultaneously. You can even charge smaller accessories using the built-in USB-C port.

iPhone Air MagSafe Battery will set you back $99. Since iPhone Air MagSafe Battery is designed by Apple, it will certainly integrate beautifully with iPhone Air and should provide a tightly-integrated experience in day-to-day usage. It’s available to order today at Apple’s website.
