Apple has finally announced the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, AirPods Pro 3, Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3 at its “Awe Dropping event”, which lasted for a total of 1 Hour and 10 minutes. This year, Apple has brought some of the most requested features to the base iPhone 17, and introduced an even better Pro iPhone, along with the thin iPhone Air.
During the event, and as evident in the comparison page for iPhone, eSIM-only models of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max get two additional hours of video playback, as Apple has utilized the space for a larger battery, which would have been used by the Physical SIM slot.
iPhone 17 Pro (U.S.) – eSIM only: Up to 33 hours video playback (+2 hours)
iPhone 17 Pro (other regions) – Physical SIM + eSIM: Up to 31 hours video playback
iPhone 17 Pro Max (U.S.) – eSIM only: Up to 39 hours video playback (+2 hours)
iPhone 17 Pro Max (other regions) – Physical SIM + eSIM: Up to 37 hours video playback
The base iPhone 17 still has the same battery life, whether you have an eSIM-only U.S. model or a Physical SIM model. The iPhone Air also features the same battery life as it is an eSIM-only model globally.
