Apple’s first foldable iPhone is shaping up to be the headline act of the 2026 lineup. In today’s edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says to picture the device as “two titanium iPhone Airs side-by-side”—ultra-thin and a genuine design flex. He also expects a premium price, at least $2,000, and a launch in Apple’s usual fall iPhone window.
That aligns with earlier Power On reporting suggesting Apple’s foldable will follow the Galaxy Z Fold playbook while leaning on Apple’s own component choices and industrial design standards. If accurate, it would make the foldable iPhone Apple’s most expensive phone to date, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2TB of storage.
There’s been fresh noise about pilot lines in Taiwan and the possibility of mass production in India, per a Nikkei report. At the same time, Foxconn is widely expected to be a key assembly partner for Apple’s foldable push—consistent with prior analyst notes and supply-chain reporting.
A super-thin, titanium foldable at the iPhone-level scale would be a statement product that finally takes Apple into a maturing category it has sat out. Trend data and supply-chain reads have also pointed to a 2026 debut, which could give Apple time to refine hinges, displays, and software before going big.
