Recent insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman point to potential refreshes for iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. In a series of posts on X, Gurman highlighted stock constraints that could signal the arrival of M5-powered iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models.
Gurman noted that the current iPad Pro with the M4 chip is seeing limited stock at Apple retail stores. For online orders, certain configurations now face shipping delays, with estimates ranging from October 21 to 28. He described this as a strong indicator of an “imminent iPad Pro M5 debut.” Such patterns are common before Apple introduces new hardware, as the company manages inventory to clear space for updated products.
Extending his analysis to MacBooks, Gurman specified issues with the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro models that lack the higher-end Pro or Max chips. Custom configurations ordered online are delayed until the end of October. Importantly, this doesn’t affect the Pro/Max variants or the larger 16-inch models, which remain readily available. This selective shortage suggests Apple may be prioritizing updates to the base lineup first.
These developments, while unconfirmed, align with Apple’s typical refresh cycle. The M5 chip could offer enhancements in performance, energy efficiency, and AI integration, building on the M4’s capabilities. This potential M5 rollout follows recent launches like the iPhone 17 series and iOS advancements. It could coincide with the end of Apple’s back-to-school promotions on October 21, adding to the speculation.
