Apple published a press release today stating that  “F1 The Movie” released on June 27 and directed by Joseph Kosinski, will be available to stream globally on December 12.

Deep into the press release, Apple mentions, “Apple TV+ is now simply Apple TV, with a vibrant new identity. Ahead of its global streaming debut on Apple TV, the film continues to be available for purchase on participating digital platforms, including the Apple TV app, Amazon Prime Video, Fandango at Home and more.”

“Apple TV is available on the Apple TV app in over 100 countries and regions, on over 1 billion screens, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro, Mac, popular smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL and others, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, and at tv.apple.com, for $12.99 per month with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. For a limited time, customers who purchase and activate a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac can enjoy three months of Apple TV for free.”

The Apple TV App icon has also been updated in iOS 26.1 and tvOS 26.1 Developer Beta 3 to a slightly coloured one.

Except for the new name and the app icon of the subscription service, no additional information has been announced.

Now that “Apple TV+” is changing to “Apple TV”, it might be possible for Apple to rebrand the current Apple TV set-top box with a different name.
