Apple rolls out macOS Tahoe 26.1 with a new Liquid Glass Setting and security improvements

After weeks of beta testing, Apple has finally started rolling out macOS Tahoe 26.1 to the public. This update comes more than a month after the release of macOS Tahoe 26.0.1.

This updates are expected to bring in the more stability in performance and battery life for users running previous versions.

Apart from that, there are several other new features and changes. According to Apple’s Release Notes, “This update includes the following features and enhancements:

  • Liquid Glass setting gives you the option to choose between the default clear look or a new tinted look which increases opacity of the material in apps

  • Apple Music AutoMix support over AirPlay

  • Improved FaceTime audio quality in low-bandwidth conditions

  • Communication Safety and Web content filters to limit adult websites are enabled by default for existing child accounts for ages 13–17 (age varies by country or region)”

This update is currently available for all devices that support macOS Tahoe, including:

  • MacBook Air with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
  • MacBook Pro with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
  • MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019) with an Intel chipset
  • MacBook Pro 13-inch (2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) with an Intel chipset
  • iMac (2020 and later)
  • Mac mini (2020 and later)
  • Mac Studio (2022 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)

macOS Tahoe 26.1 include fixes to 90 security issues with WebKit, WiFi, Safari, Shortcuts Photos, Siri, and more.
