Apple Music app released for ChatGPT

Apple Music users can now get help creating the perfect playlist from ChatGPT.

OpenAI officially launched its new app marketplace Wednesday, which features Apple Music as one of its first apps. This comes just after OpenAI CEO of applications Fidji Simo included Apple Music in a list of apps to be included in a Substack post made the day prior.

The app allows users to browse for playlists, albums, songs and artists in the Apple Music catalog and listen to previews, according to the app’s official listing. It also allows users to generate playlists based on text prompts describing the playlist’s purpose, genre or feel.

The app does not require an Apple Music subscription to perform these basic functions, per the listing; however, subscribers who link their Apple Accounts can add songs and playlists to their library directly from the thread in the ChatGPT interface.

Users can add the app to their ChatGPT account through the Settings page on the app or website. In the “Apps” section, users can select “Browse Apps” to open the new marketplace where the Apple Music app is listed.
