Roomba Matter Support Expands to More Models

Roomba adds HomeKit support with Matter for more models

Roomba has started rolling out a significant firmware update that brings Matter support to a wider range of its vacuum lineup. This move effectively bridges the gap between your robot helper and Apple HomeKit, making the dream of a fully integrated smart home just a little bit cleaner.

Previously limited to just the flagship Combo 10 Max, this latest update expands Matter compatibility to several mid-range and high-end units. According to iRobot’s website, the Roomba Plus 500 Combo, Roomba Max 700 Vac, and Roomba Max 700 Combo are now joining the party. If you own one of these models, you’ll no longer need third-party bridges like Homebridge to get them talking to your iPhone.

Thanks to the Matter interoperability standard, these vacuums can now appear directly in the Apple Home app on devices running iOS 18.4 or later. Once connected, you can use Siri to start a cleaning cycle, stop the vacuum, or send it back to its dock. It also means you can finally include your vacuum in your HomeKit scenes—such as a “Leaving Home” scene that turns off the lights, locks the door, and automatically starts the Roomba cleaning.

Matter support currently covers core functionalities like power, mode selection, and status monitoring. For advanced features like editing maps, setting Keep Out Zones, or detailed scheduling, you will still need to open the iRobot Home app. The update is rolling out over the air, so your robot should pick it up automatically when it’s on its Home Base and connected to Wi-Fi. To manually check if you’re ready to go, open the iRobot app and navigate to Product Settings > connected Services.
