This year will be, without a doubt, the biggest year for Apple, not only because Apple will launch several exciting all-new products, but this year also marks the 50th anniversary, or semicentennial, of the company’s founding. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, held an all-hands meeting with its employees earlier today, and this was what Cook teased for the employees, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman:
“I’ve been unusually reflective lately about Apple because we have been working on what to do to mark this moment. When you really stop and pause and think about the last 50 years, it makes your heart sing. It really does. I promise some celebration.” -Tim Cook
With that kind of announcement, it certainly sounds like Apple is going to celebrate really big for the company’s upcoming anniversary. Apple was co-founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak on April 1, 1976, so it’s only less than two months until Apple celebrates its semicentennial.
We don’t know exactly what Apple is planning for its 50th anniversary, but I could imagine some sort of special-edition Apple product to commemorate its milestone. As a bit of trivia, Apple did offer the special-edition Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary despite being released in 1997; however, that computer simply crashed and burned due to how outrageously expensive it was.
However, I could imagine Apple holding a media press event to introduce several new products for the home. Apple held a media event in April 2021 to introduce the updated Apple TV 4K, the first AirTag, the M1 iPad Pro, and the colorful M1 iMac. If you think about it, these products were designed to be used around the home. So Apple could have another event this April again to introduce more home-related products; this would include the next generation Siri, the next Apple TV 4K, the refreshed HomePod mini, the budget MacBook, and the long-rumored “HomePad” device.
