Tired of using third-party apps to transfer between Android and iOS? It turns out that Google has been working on integrating a seamless solution that is built into Android. In November of last year, Google announced that it was bringing support for AirDrop to work with Quick Share in the Pixel 10 series, with more devices to follow soon. That expansion is now underway, with the company recently announcing support for the feature in the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Google has not mentioned the Pixel 9a in the list of supported devices as of yet; however, we could see it get the updated Quick Share feature sooner rather than later.

To transfer files from a Pixel device to an iPhone, you need to adjust your AirDrop visibility to “Everyone for 10 minutes”. Similarly, to transfer files from an iPhone to a Pixel device, you need to adjust your Quick Share visibility to “Everyone” or “Everyone for 10 minutes”.

The feature worked on my Pixel 9 yesterday; however, at the moment, neither my iPhone nor my Pixel is showing up on the AirDrop/Quick Share menu. As mentioned by Google, this will roll out over the next few days, which should bring back the feature on my Pixel 9 as well.
