MacPaw today announced the introduction of Single-App Purchases and Subscription options on Setapp.
What is Setapp?
Setapp is a platform designed by MacPaw, offering a plethora of useful apps and tools for your Mac and iPhone with a single membership plan.
With today’s update, customers will now be able to purchase or subscribe to over 60 apps as of now instead of paying for a full membership plan. Users will just need a Setapp account to purchase apps.

Developers will now have the option to integrate and offer these new purchase options on their apps and tools, including recurring monthly and yearly plans, along with lifetime licenses.
According to MacPaw, “Through this new model, users can access a variety of popular tools on Setapp such as Bartender, Downie, AlDente Pro and more as standalone subscriptions. Additional applications that choose to participate in the new single-app purchase model will be announced on a regular basis.”
In the words of Oleksandr Kosovan, CEO and founder of MacPaw, “We know that people use apps differently, with some using one tool every day while others want to explore and try out many,” “To give users more flexibility in how they access Setapp, we’re expanding our purchase plans to include single-app models. We’re excited to announce this update, as it serves as our first meaningful step into transforming Setapp into an open ecosystem marketplace – one where users can discover, purchase, and use third-party tools and AI-powered solutions.”
MacPaw is also working on extending single-app purchases to apps that are not currently available with the Setapp membership. Setapp offers a seven-day free trial for the membership with a whole suite of useful apps and tools.
