While we’re just halfway through the iPhone’s annual upgrade cycle, the “iPhone Fold,” or “iPhone Ultra,” has long been rumored to be Apple’s next biggest thing to come. We’ve now got several new reports on what we could expect for the iPhone Ultra in terms of memory, storage, and pricing.
First, a new report from The Bell indicates that the iPhone Ultra will feature 12GB of RAM, matching that of the latest iPhone 17 Pro models. The 256GB and 512GB models of the M5 iPad Pro and all the storage tiers of the M4 iPad Air feature 12GB of RAM, and we can, of course, expect the next iPhone 18 Pro models to feature the same amount of memory as well. Samsung is reported to supply the 12GB LPDDR5X modules for this upcoming smartphone.
Second, when it comes to storage, leaker Instant Digital indicates that the foldable phone will start with 256GB, as with the iPhone 17 lineup and the iPhone Air. However, it maxes out at 1TB, unlike the 2TB capacity seen in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Still, it would match the storage configurations offered in the (smaller) iPhone 17 Pro.
Last, but not least, the same leaker listed the prices for these storage tiers in yuan: 15,999; 17,999; and 19,999 yuan, respectively. MacWorld pointed out that these prices would align with the following likely USD prices. So these would be the prices in USD for these rumored storage tiers:
- 256GB: $1,999
- 512GB: $2,199
- 1TB: $2,399
This upcoming smartphone will, by all means, be crazy expensive, but the price should be highly justifiable given the advanced technology that it’s going to pack. Still, this pricing would still be in line with previous rumors suggesting the price to be within the $2,000 to $2,400 range.
Would you go all in to buy Apple’s most advanced iPhone yet? Or would you be just happy with the Pro models? Sound off in the comments below.
