A new firmware version for the AirPods Max 2 has been released by Apple. The build number of the new firmware is 8E251, and Apple says that this update includes “bug fixes and improvements” on its firmware update webpage.
This new version comes just a day before the official launch of the AirPods Max 2, so if there are any issues in the initial usage after unboxing, this update would likely fix them after installing automatically.
What’s New with AirPods Max 2?
The AirPods Max 2 comes with the H2 chip, the same chipset found on the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4. This upgrade was long overdue, as Apple launched the H2 chip with the AirPods Pro 2 back in September of 2022. It also features Bluetooth 5.3, up from Bluetooth 5.0 on the first version. With the H2 chip upgrade, AirPods Max users can finally enjoy features like Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Personalized Volume, Loud Sound Reduction, Live Translation, and up to 1.5x more Active Noise Cancellation when compared to the original AirPods Max.
If you want to check if your AirPods Max has updated to the latest firmware, follow these steps:
- Wear your AirPods Max 2
- Go to Settings>Bluetooth
- Tap on the ‘i’ icon
Here, you’ll be able to see the current firmware version of your AirPods. If it hasn’t updated, you’ll just have to wait, as there’s no way to manually update. Just make sure that your AirPods Max 2 is sufficiently charged and connected to power, along with your iPhone, iPad, or Mac being in close proximity.
