Today at WWDC 2026, Apple introduced the next iteration of its iPhone software, iOS 27. iOS 27 brings several requested features to the iPhone, including changes to Liquid Glass, a new Siri, improvements to Apple Intelligence, and more.
Apart from the already known usual changes, it seems that Apple has also added two features that they did not announce at the event. Users running iOS 27 will finally be able to use Now Playing in Apple Music in Landscape mode, similar to iPadOS.
Here is how the feature works:

This does not require you to have a Plus or Max-sized iPhone, as it works on smaller iPhones like the iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Pro, etc. We cannot confirm if this feature works on the iPhone SE 2 and iPhone SE 3 yet.
Another feature in iOS 27 is that you can remove or ‘Clear’ your ‘Now Playing’ controls from the Lock Screen if you’d like.
New in iOS 27: You can now swipe away the now playing controls on the lock screen.

Users who are registered as a developer on www.developer.apple.com can opt in to receive beta updates by going into Settings>General>Software Update>Beta Updates and selecting Developer Beta. Do note that these versions are not stable and are meant for testing purposes. They are not recommended to be downloaded on a primary device due to the nature of beta software.
