Today, Apple announced the next iteration of its software platforms iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Tahoe 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 to developers. These updates include improvements to Liquid Glass, a new Siri AI, new Screen Time options, and more, announced at today’s WWDC event. The highlight of today’s event is the new Apple Intelligence features, including new Photo Editing options, a more natural Siri, Agentic Password updating, improved Image Playground, Personal Context, and more.
Since some of these also rely on Apple’s Cloud Compute feature, it comes with daily usage limits. Users will have more usage limits with an iCloud+ plan, according to Apple. “Some Apple Intelligence features, including image generation, have daily usage limits because they rely on powerful server models. Increased access is available with most iCloud+ subscription plans, which also include Apple Intelligence support for compatible Home cameras.”
Notably, Apple has mentioned “most iCloud+ subscription plans” here, which could mean that only the more expensive plans will get increased usage limits. It seems that Apple might exclude the cheapest $0.99 50GB iCloud+ plan from receiving this advantage, based on how Apple’s statement is worded. The $2.99 200GB plan falls into a gray zone, as it might or might not get more limits, although any plan above the $9.99 2TB option is most likely going to get more benefits.
Apple has yet to clarify more on this, and it is possible that they enforce these limits once the features are out in September for everyone instead of now. Users who are registered as a developer on www.developer.apple.com can opt in to receive beta updates by going into Settings>General>Software Update>Beta Updates and selecting Developer Beta. The new Siri AI is behind a waitlist now; here’s how to register yourself.
Do note that these versions are not stable and are meant for testing purposes. They are not recommended to be downloaded on a primary device due to the nature of beta software. Apple should follow Google and drop their rates on some plans. They should increase the basic to 50 GB from 5GB
