Volvo Cars has begun rolling out native Apple Music support for model year 2020 and newer vehicles. The company is also including a three-month free trial for those who haven’t used Apple Music before. Here’s what you need to know.
In a press release on their website, Volvo Cars “is now starting to integrate Apple Music into more than two million Volvo cars via an over-the-air software update.” The company adds that the timing of this feature may vary across several car models, but the software update is planned for these Volvo car models: the Volvo EX90, ES90, XC90, S90, V90, XC60, S60, V60, XC40, EX40, and EC40, from model year 2020 and onwards.
“Customers can simply sign in with their Apple account and enjoy songs, playlists, and live radio, all easily controlled by voice or touchscreen. New subscribers can quickly sign up and bring all their playlists and full library of music with them from other services,” –Volvo.
Those who drive EX60, EX90, and ES90 models equipped with the upgraded Bowers & Wilkins system will also take full advantage of Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos playback.
“With Apple Music Spatial Audio powered by Dolby Atmos technology, Volvo drivers can experience music in immersive audio, transforming the car into a premium listening environment. Dolby Atmos brings a more natural, multi-dimensional sound experience that surrounds listeners with music and vocals in greater clarity and depth,” –Volvo.
Volvo says that customers can redeem the three-month offer in the Volvo app, and it will be available until July 6th, 2027. Apple recently announced price increases for Apple Music. In the United States, here are the Apple Music plans that are affected by the price hikes:
- Individual: $11.99, up from $10.99 ($1 difference)
- Family: $19.99, up from $16.99 ($3 difference)
- Student: $6.99, up from $5.99 ($1 difference)
