We’re less than a month away from Apple introducing the next-generation iPhone 18 Pro, and according to industry sources cited by South Korea’s DealSite, Apple has secured lower prices for OLED displays for the said smartphones, paying around $68 for each upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max’s OLED display from LG and Samsung, compared to the $110 to $120 that it paid to those suppliers for each iPhone 17 Pro Max display.
All in all, this would be a smart move for Apple: by buying OLED displays at lower prices, Apple could offset the increased RAM and storage costs due to the ongoing supply/demand imbalances as a result of the memory crisis. Back in July, Apple had to increase prices across Macs, iPads, Apple TVs, and even HomePods. However, the prices for iPhones and Apple Watches remain unchanged.
However, don’t expect the prices for the iPhone 18 Pro to remain the same, as rumors suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro models could be priced higher than the current iPhone 17 Pro models, with starting prices set to increase by a range of $200 to $300. Therefore, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could start at up to $1,399 and $1,499, respectively.
We expect Apple to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro models and the highly anticipated iPhone Ultra next month, and this will be the first time in years that Apple won’t introduce an upgrade to the standard iPhone model in the fall, as Apple plans to stagger its lower-end iPhone launches in the spring.
