Apple usually relies on one supplier for a certain component, this year three of Apple’s suppliers will share camera modules orders for the upcoming iPhone 12 lineup according to Taiwan sources via DigiTimes.

LG will be supplying the camera modules for the higher-end 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. These phones are expected to have a triple-camera setup and a LiDAR scanner.

The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max will have its camera modules made by O-film and Sharp. These phones are expected to have a dual-camera setup without a LiDAR scanner to keep costs down.

New rumors give the idea that Apple plans to update its TrueDepth Camera system which improves performance as well as a decreased footprint, which will enable the integration of a smaller notch.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro production is expected to begin later than usual, starting in September. This means the official launch will most likely be pushed back to October and possibly in an online form, similar to how WWDC 2020 will be presented.
