Fortnite developer Epic Games announced on Twitter today that users will no longer be able to log in to the game using Apple’s login system “Sign In with Apple” as early as Friday.

Epic issued the following statement on its Twitter account:

Apple will no longer allow users to sign into Epic Games accounts using “Sign In with Apple” as soon as September 11, 2020. If you used “Sign In with Apple”, please make sure your email and password are up to date.

The dispute between Apple and Epic began on August 13, 2020, when the latter released a version of Fortnite in the Apple App Store. This version allows users to pay for in-game content instead of giving Apple a 30% commission as usual. Afterward, Apple removed the game, and Epic sued Apple later in the day.

Later, Apple suspended Epic’s developer account on August 28, making it impossible to create new apps or update Fortnite on the company’s platform. On Tuesday, Apple went further and asked the court to hold Epic accountable for a breach of contract and other damages, demanding the return of all fees collected by Fortnite through its payment method, and hoped that the court would issue a permanent injunction prohibiting Epic from using its external payment mechanism.
