The same week that Mexico launched its Apple Pay support, the Israel bank Pepper leaked it could be next in line to get Apple Pay.

Recently, the bank released an update for its iOS app (Version 6.3.2) that revealed that something big is coming to it and the bank “soon.”

“Surprise version! We have prepared a surprise for you. Waiting for the moment when we can share with you…”

This was first reported by The Verifier, which said that this update allowed users of the app to add their card to Apple Pay in the Wallet app. However, the feature has not been functioning correctly so far and users who have tried are reported getting an error message.

At this time, it does appear as though all references of Apple Pay in the app have been removed, but the image below shows an image users were initially shown when they updated the app to its newest version, showing Apple Pay support.

What this did show is the bank will be one of the first in the country to have Apple Pay support when it does eventually launch.

When it comes to Israel’s government, there is absolutely nothing that would prevent Apple Pay from launching there, as there are no government regulations on the service.

What do you think of Israel potentially launching Apple Pay in the near future? Let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy.
