Leaker Max Weinbach revealed to YouTuber EverythingApplePro that Apple will select new colorways for the iPhone 13 lineup, at least on the Pro models. He also expects the iPhone 13 to have a design that is “roughly identical” to the iPhone 12, with a “smaller” notch on the display.
Weinbach claims that Apple will launch a high-quality pure black finish to replace the “gray” graphite color in the iPhone 12 Pro lineup. There are reports that the color of the iPhone 13 Pro will be similar in tone, but the surface will be frosted.
He went on to say that the iPhone 13 lineup will also include a new anti-fingerprint coating to minimize imperfections in the appearance of glass and stainless steel.
iPhone 13 could also comes with a new and smaller camera module, which, although not entirely flat, will enable each lens to protrude less from the main body. On top of that, the Pro models will have a 120Hz display that is always-on.
The Portrait Mode, which uses the parallax of the two camera lenses and computation algorithms to try to calculate the edge of the focused object, has also been thoroughly overhauled, according to Max Weinbach.
Finally, the leaker states that Apple is working on a new version of Portrait Mode. The new system is expected to incorporate camera data with depth data from LiDAR scanners. This should improve fidelity edge detection and lower the risk of Portrait Mode shooting errors. Apple is anticipated to launch iPhone 13 this fall.
