Widgets became available last fall with the release of iOS 14 on the iPhone and iPad, and with that, many developers across the App Store have been gradually adding the feature to their apps.

With that said, today is the day that Tapbots released support for widgets with its new Tweetbot 6 third-party Twitter app that was released in the early part of 2021.

Tweetbot 6 makes it so that the app is a yearly subscription to use more features of the Tweetbot. If the user does not subscribe to Tweetbot, the only thing they can do on it is view their timeline but not create and publish tweets. This subscription to the app costs $5.99 a year or $0.99 a month.

Widget support is set to be modified and enhanced in iPadOS 15 since widgets will be able to be added to other parts of the screen, instead of just on the left side of the screen when in landscape mode.

Tweetbot’s widget will simply show the newest tweets on your timeline without having to go into the Tweetbot app. Users can see either one tweet or multiple tweets, depending on the widget their add to their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

This all comes from Version 6.2 that comes with the other following features:

  • – Added new Timeline Widgets
  • – Added support for multiple windows on iPad
  • – Added support for Shortcuts
  • – Added support for Handoff
  • – Added more app icons
  • – Various bug fixes

It should also be noted that the official Twitter app has yet to release support for widgets on iOS or iPadOS.

Tweetbot is available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, as well as the Mac.
