For some, Amazon Prime is a great service that customers across the U.S. pay for to be highly convenient, and in some cases, not even have to leave their home to get said convenience.

However, it has now been reported that Amazon Prime’s monthly and yearly prices will be increased, according to Engadget.

The new prices for Amazon Prime will be $14.99 a month (previously $12.99 a month) and $139.99 a year (previously $119 a year). Amazon’s new price for Prime will take effect for new customers on Friday, February 18, and current customers on Friday, March 25.

The company has not increased the price of Amazon Prime since 2018.

Amazon has said the reasons for the price increases in an Amazon Prime membership include raises in employee wages, benefits of the memberships and transportation costs. These benefits of the membership include two-day free shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music and other services provided by Amazon.

With that said, monthly prices for just Prime Video will not be raised and stay at the same price of $8.99 a month. Prime Video can be subscribed to through in-app purchases in the App Store, where the Prime Video app is available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Apple TV and Mac. The app syncs with the Apple TV app too.
