Just days away from now, Apple will officially announce the highly anticipated lineup of iPhone 14 devices in its Far Out special event on September 7. Last-minute rumors and leaks are sweeping the internet such as the replacement of the two-hole punch cutouts with one on the Pro models.

Due to the new redesign, Apple would likely bring back one essential feature ”“ the classic battery indicator. Ever since the iPhone X was launched, the battery indicator never showed the exact percentage left for users, they had to swipe down on the top-right side of the screen to preview how much they have left.

According to new information shared by an anonymous user to the MacRumors forum, Apple will bring back the battery percentage indicator and add an Always-On Display when the screen is turned off. This makes sense as more space will be added at the top of the display for the indicator to show up.

If that’s the case, the iPhone 14 Pro models could witness the comeback of the carrier signal bar on the left and the location icon on the right to truly revive the classic iPhone top screen information. The last time Apple implemented this software design on a flagship device was in 2017 with the iPhone 8 series.

In early August, Apple seeded iOS 16 beta 5 to developers. The update fixed many bugs and improved stability but one last big feature was the return of the battery indicator. However, it’s different, and many fans criticized the company for the bad implementation of the basic feature ”“ the percentage left in the battery is inside the icon not beside it.

We will see if everything said will be true or not next week when Apple’s Far Out event is held on Wednesday, September 7 at 10 a.m. PT. Products expected to be unveiled at the event include the iPhone 14 series and the Apple Watch Series 8 series, including the rumored rugged “Apple Watch Pro”.
