As reported by Bloomberg, Apple is planning to add a feature to iOS 17 which will turn locked screens into a new interface that horizontally shows information such as weather, calendar, stock market, and more.

The feature is supposedly activated when the device is flat on a desk, stand, or nightstand. This new screen view is coming to users in iOS 17 later this year, the project being codenamed as “Dawn”.

The new functionality will feature a dark background and bright font for easy readability with widgets that update in real-time. Apple is also working on the same user interface for the iPad, but as long as that iPadOS hasn’t had the new Lock Screen, it may take some time to release.

As reported earlier by Bloomberg, Apple has been working to enter the smart home hub market with a new iPad that magnetically attaches to walls or stands, but it seems that the development of this device has been slowed down.

For iOS 17, Apple plans to redesign the Wallet app, introduce a new journaling app, add more social features, update SharePlay, and add the ability to use AirPlay with non-owner devices like in hotels to make it easy for users to connect to those devices.

Here are the features that have been rumored for iOS 17. Do you think Apple will release a stand for the iPhone to complement its new smart display feature? Let us know in the comments.
