Today, Apple has launched its Tap to Pay feature in the Netherlands, according to iCulture.
What the feature does is it allows businesses big and small to begin using iPhones as a POS system for customers using a credit or debit card as their payment method when making a purchase. That would be available for customers that pay from a device like an iPhone or Apple Watch, or using a physical contactless card.
Adyen and SumUp are the first two payment platforms to be enabling businesses in the Netherlands to do Tap to Pay. Rabobank, Klearly, Revolut, Stripe, Viva Wallet, Worldline, and myPOS are said to be other platforms that will be getting support it at some point too.
Apple originally launched the feature in the U.S. back in February last year and it has made its way to places like Apple’s very own retail stores. However, Apple has yet to officially announce support for Tap to Pay in the Netherlands at this time.
