In a time where people are trying to cut down costs, as well as ones that are not essential, CARROT Weather’s Apple Watch has proven in itself why it is worth the money.
During the past week, I was able to try out the new redesign of the CARROT Weather watchOS app. The new look came right after the release of iOS 17 this year.
When it comes to the new look on the watch face on my Apple Watch Series 5, I like the fact that even though it feels as though there are a lot of things crammed on it, the information is important and includes enough wording or numbers that make it so you don’t have to wonder what something means. This can come in handy if you happen to show your watch face to another person too.
The colors on it are vibrant and do a great justice for the Apple Watch.
Once you have entered the full app, again, the colors are strong, bold, and show that the app is going to get you the information along with a fresh, simple, easy-to-understand design. I can see what the current temp is, the Feels Like temp, the chance of rain, and the direction of the wind.
To make it even better, first weather page you see is customizable, specifically with the “bubbles” at the bottom of the screen. You can change them to suit the weather information you would like to know the most. Previously, you really only had one screen with information on it.
By tapping on where the temperature is in the app, you get even more information on the weather in your area at that time.
However, what makes CARROT Weather on the Apple Watch stand out compared to other Apple Watch weather apps is you can see a full radar. Not only that, but it can be specified to the country, state you’re currently in, municipality, and city. This is super useful when there is severe weather coming in.
I am aware that other Apple Watch weather apps over the years have adapted and added radars to their apps. Still, I have yet to see one that is as good and understandable, and customizable as CARROT’s.
The last thing I will say about the redesign and the app is after all this time, the notifications are one of the aspects about it I have always loved. Specifically when it comes to locations, CARROT Weather does a brilliant job of notifying you when there is bad weather in your area.
Since the app is always seeing your location (this is something that can be customized in your device’s settings), it can tell you there is bad weather or a severe thunderstorm warning, but you are not in the specific area that is being impacted by the weather.

I have yet to see a weather app be that specific in its notifications and design, which is why the Apple Watch version of CARROT Weather gets 4/4 stars from me. At the end of the day, the app adapts to new tech and looks, but still sticks what has historically made it so great and reliable to its users.
