Apple introduces Tap to Pay on iPhone
Apple Apple Pay Transaction big

It was announced today by PayPal that Tap to Pay on the iPhone support is coming to business customers through Venmo and Zettle in the United States.

What Tap to Pay does is it allows for businesses and merchants to essentially use an iPhone as a point-of-sale (POS) system instead of using a traditional cash register or even a device like an iPad.

Once a card with contactless support through Near Field Communication (NFC) or a person using an iPhone and Apple Pay is being used for a purchase, Tap to Pay can be used through the business for the transaction as the payment method.

PayPal released a statement to its investors that Tap to Pay allows for businesses to accept the cards at no extra cost.

Part of the reasoning for this is due to more and more consumers going cashless., according to Nitin Prabhu VP, Small Business & Financial Services at PayPal.

As consumers increasingly turn to non-cash options to pay, small businesses are looking for affordable and flexible ways to offer their customers more payment choice without being tied down to a fixed location,” Prabhu said. “With Tap to Pay on iPhone, millions of small businesses that use Venmo and PayPal Zettle can now start accepting contactless card and digital wallet payments nearly anywhere, directly on their iPhones, which can expand their customer base and drive incremental sales.”
