Apple announced its brand new products to the iPhone lineup at its ‘Glowtime’ event today ”“ iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, taking technology to the next level.
The highlighting feature of the new iPhone 16 Pro series is Apple Intelligence, which was announced during WWDC back in June 2024, as a part of iOS 18.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, powered by the new A18 Pro chip feature a larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR Display, but they now come with even slimmer bezels for a more futuristic look. The limelight falls on the new Camera Control Button, which is also interactive!
With all of these new features, there has got to be some changes in the weight of the device.
According to Apple’s Tech Specs webpage, the iPhone 16 Pro is around 6.42% heavier than the iPhone 15 Pro while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is around 2.71% heavier than its predecessor.
Let’s compare the weight of the Pro models for the current and last two generations:
- iPhone 16 Pro: 199 grams
- iPhone 15 Pro: 187 grams
- iPhone 14 Pro: 206 grams
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 227 grams
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 221 grams
- iPhone 14 Pro Max: 240 grams
Apple reduced the weight of the iPhone 15 Pro series last year as a result of the new Titanium frame, however, it seems to be again increased this year. Two of the obvious reasons for the increase in weight are the new Camera Control button and increase in screen sizes. This is a minor increase and should not significantly impact your use of the phone.
The new Pro models will be available in four elegant finishes ”“ Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium finishes. The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB variant, $1,099 for the 256GB variant, $1,299 for the 512GB variant, and $1,499 for the 1TB variant. The iPhone 16 Pro will be available to Pre-order on September 13th starting at 5 a.m. PDT and it will be available starting September 20th.
The larger Pro Max starts at $1,199 for the 256GB variant, $1,399 for the 512GB variant, and $1,599 for the 1TB variant. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will also be available to Pre-order on September 13th starting at 5 a.m. PDT and it will be available starting September 20th.
