Apple launched Apple News+ back in March 2019, and since then Apple has been expanding its service to include more content beyond news, especially by publishing cooking recipes and puzzles. On the puzzles side, Apple started offering mini and daily crosswords. Last year, News+ added Quartiles where you spell as many words as you can given the quartiles, and the service also added the classic Sudoko game with easy/medium/hard difficulty levels.

Today, with the announcement of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26, Apple News+ Puzzles will continue to expand with the addition of another fun game that you’ll enjoy called the ‘Emoji Game.’ To play, you’ll be given unfinished spelt words, and you’ll need to use the given patterns of emoji to fill in the blanks. Keep in mind that emojis could have several meanings that can finish other words or phrases.

This game will be part of the puzzles section in Apple News+, so you will need an Apple News+ subscription in order to access and play a lifetime supply of puzzles, including the curated archives section. Apple News+ is priced at $12.99 per month, and the whole family (you and up to 5 other members) can use the service at no additional cost, making it a great value to access everyday content.

The ‘Emoji Game’ can be played on iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Tahoe, and progress/stats/streaks will be synced across all of these platforms. Since iOS 26 is in developer beta, only developers can access the ‘Emoji Game’, but public betas will be available next month, and Apple will publicly launch all of major releases this fall.

We’ll continue to post WWDC-related announcements from here on out, so make sure to our website or follow us on X (@appleosophy) to stay updated with the latest Apple news!
