Apple today announced the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, AirPods Pro 3, Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3 at its “Awe Dropping event”, which lasted for a total of 1 Hour and 10 minutes. This year, Apple has brought some of the most requested features to the base iPhone 17, and introduced an even better Pro iPhone, along with the thin iPhone Air.

While the iPhone Air is a one-of-a-kind device with a slim and unique design, it does have certain tradeoffs. The Air does not come with stereo speakers, which every iPhone since the iPhone 7 has included. It only features the built-in earpiece speaker instead. We will have to wait for reviews of the iPhone Air to check if Apple somehow found a way to make the single speaker sound comparable to the stereo speakers on the base iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models.

The Air has another caveat. If you love using mmWave 5G on your current iPhone and plan on upgrading to this one, you might want to look at other iPhone 17 models because the Air does not support it. What it does come with is a new Apple N1 wireless networking chip with support for Wi‑Fi 7 (802.11be) with 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 6, and Thread networking technology. The previous iPhone 16 models featured Bluetooth 5.3, so this is a notable upgrade.
